Proper CFRP composite surfaces for adhesive bonding were obtained by a laser treatment process using pulsed CO2 laser. Laser treatments were obtained with different accumulated laser fluences and then surfaces were analyzed with roughness and contact angle measurements. Adhesive bonding was performed with various bondline thicknesses ranged between 30-500 mu m using two component structural epoxy based paste adhesive (Loctite Hysol (R) EA 9396 (TM)). Adhesive bonding strength of bonded samples was determined with single lap shear tests.
