  "description": "In this study, a design methodology and a software based on this methodology for single and three-phase iron-core shunt-reactors are introduced. The software, which performs analytical calculations and optimization of the target reactor under design, in accordance with the pre-determined criteria by the user such as input data, assumptions and design criterion, is developed for both single and three-phase reactors in Matlab/GUIDE environment. Several reactor designs with different power and voltage levels are performed by means of the developed software and accuracy tests are carried out by Ansys/Maxwell finite element analyses. Results show that; the proposed design methodology is fast, accurate and reliable for iron core shunt reactor design. In addition, since there is no introduced clear cut design methodology and software in the literature, the proposed study may have an important contribution in the field.",
