In terms of overall protein stability, there is a substantial advantage to a nucleus with strong, directional interactions. Metal ion sites in proteins exhibit strong directional preferences for their coordinate ligands, and the specificities manifested by ions have been demonstrated to be useful in reducing molecular fluctuations. The engineered introduction of zinc binding sites has been shown to improve the stabilities of designed proteins. Metal binding sites can therefore provide important structural building blocks for protein design.</subfield> </datafield> <datafield tag="650" ind1="1" ind2="7"> <subfield code="2">opendefinition.org</subfield> <subfield code="a">cc-by</subfield> </datafield> <datafield tag="700" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <subfield code="a">RAGHUNATHAN, G</subfield> </datafield> <datafield tag="700" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <subfield code="a">BAHAR, I</subfield> </datafield> <datafield tag="980" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <subfield code="b">article</subfield> <subfield code="a">publication</subfield> </datafield> <datafield tag="542" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <subfield code="l">open</subfield> </datafield> <datafield tag="100" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <subfield code="a">JERNIGAN, R</subfield> </datafield> <datafield tag="260" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <subfield code="c">1994-01-01</subfield> </datafield> <controlfield tag="005">20210316151212.0</controlfield> <datafield tag="773" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <subfield code="n">doi</subfield> <subfield code="a">10.81043/aperta.103982</subfield> <subfield code="i">isVersionOf</subfield> </datafield> <datafield tag="909" ind1="C" ind2="O"> <subfield code="o">oai:zenodo.org:103983</subfield> <subfield code="p">user-tubitak-adresli-yayinlar</subfield> </datafield> <datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2=" "> <subfield code="z">md5:1a8357489bb04a1b1f4df44ddd5f6979</subfield> <subfield code="s">177</subfield> <subfield code="u">https://aperta.ulakbim.gov.trrecord/103983/files/bib-7ea4395f-7303-498c-a5c4-88f4d0dae0e8.txt</subfield> </datafield> <datafield tag="540" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <subfield code="u">http://www.opendefinition.org/licenses/cc-by</subfield> <subfield code="a">Creative Commons Attribution</subfield> </datafield> <datafield tag="024" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <subfield code="a">10.81043/aperta.103983</subfield> <subfield code="2">doi</subfield> </datafield> </record>
