Description

In this study, milling tests were carried out on commercially pure molybdenum. The tests were conducted at various cutting parameters using carbide cutting tools without coolant. The cutting forces acting on the workpiece during the milling tests were measured. In addition, the cutting forces were aimed to be determined through finite element analysis (FEA) method. Deform-3D software was used for finite element analysis. The cutting tool was modelled through reverse engineering approach using Geomagic Design X software. The measured cutting force results were compared with the finite element analysis results and a good correlation (a 10 % difference) was seen between the measured and modelled results.
