The Effects of Lobbies to the European Parliament: An Analysis on the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive

Laws at the European Union level affect the lives of all EU citizens. It is well known that the legislative procedure among European Commission, European Parliament and European Council, located in EU district of Brussels, has been affected by the lobbies. The impact of these lobbies especially on the EP is the subject of this study. It is believed that the lobbying activities in Brussels create a solution to the EU's democratic deficit problem and also seen as a means to increase the reliability of the EU institutions. In the context of this paper, the effect of lobbying on the EP is sought, and the impact of lobbying activities on the EP is examined by taking the example of Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive.
