Cloud-Based Malware Analysis System for Smart Phones
Description
With the proliferation of smart phones, users can access internet, e-government, and e-health services while they are on the move. Since smart phones support multiple network interfaces such as 2G/3G/4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC and are equipped with new sensor capabilities such as GPS, accelerometer, and gyroscope, security systems used in desktop computers are not adequate for smart mobile devices. In addition, since smart phones have limited resources such as processor, memory, and battery, a new security solution that minimizes the usage of these resources and takes the energy efficiency into account is needed. In this paper, we present a cloud-based malware analysis system for smart phones, in which the computationally expensive components are run in the cloud. The proof-of-concept demonstration has been sucessfully demonstrated in a real test environment using an example malware application.
