Their main constituents were found to be alpha-pinene, beta-pinene, 1,8-cineole, thymol, and caryophyllene oxide. Essential oil of S. multicaulis, S. kronenburgii, S. verticillata and the pure compounds alpha-pinene, beta-pinene, 1,8-cineole, linalool oxide and caryophyllene oxide were tested against E. coli, S aureus, K. pneumonia, and the yeast C.albicans.
