Use of mRNA differential display technique in plant biology

Description

All living organisms have thousands to tens of thousands of unique genes encoded in their genome, of which only a small fraction, perhaps 15%, are expressed in any individual cell. The identification of genes expressed in either a regionally, temporally, or environmentally specific manner is fundamental to the understanding of processes such as differentiation, development, growth and biotic and abiotic stress related survival of the organism. In the present review, a powerful new tool for identifying differentially expressed genes, mRNA Differential Display (DD) technique, was discussed.
