Phase Velocity Measurement of Surface Wave Propagating Along a Goubau-Line: Wire Resonator Method

Creators

Description

In this paper, a wire resonator method is proposed to measure phase velocity of surface wave supported by a Goubou-line. The technique is based on the resonance phenomenon of an open resonance structure, which is closely located to a G-line. It is an alternative method to the other known techniques such as the near field propping or the scattering technique. The technique is simple. Phase velocity is obtained from physical dimensions of resonator and the resonance curve when a wire resonator is located close to the line. Two types of structure: the ring wire and the sinusoidal wire resonators were used for this aim and phase velocities were obtained for several frequencies using both resonators. A comparison of the phase velocities obtained by wire resonator technique with near field propping technique was done.
