Microstructure evolution of twin-roll cast AA5xxx alloys during homogenisation-like annealing

Description
The need for low cost Al sheets for automotive applications is a challenge for the development of new materials produced by twin-roll continuous (TRC) casting route. The paper presents the results of laboratory homogenisation-like annealing of four AA5xxx materials prepared by TRC and cold rolling. The evolution of hardness, electrical conductivity and microstructure is investigated. The effect of composition and cold rolling applied prior to annealing is studied.
