Description
In this paper, break of a chaos-based RNG is experimentally demonstrated. Target system and a proposed attack system are set up physically on a stripboard and the security problem in the chaos-based RNG is revealed. Masterslave synchronization scheme is established for proving the convergence of the attack system. Although the structure of the RNG and a scalar time series observed from the chaotic oscillator are the only information available, future steps of the RNG are reached by the attack system. Experimental results confirming the achievability of the attack system are given. It has been experimentally verified that deterministic chaos phenomena cannot be assessed as the source of the entropy for a true random number generator.
