Description

In this paper, FGPA implementation of real time ambiguity resolution in hybrid amplitude/phase comparison direction finding systems is presented. Ambiguity that is fundamentally caused by overlapping of the signal is analyzed in details for phase comparison direction finding systems. Ambiguity resolution is implemented by comparison of coarse angle of arrival that is extracted using amplitude comparison method and generated angle of arrival values using the measured fundamental phase. The ambiguity resolution method developed in this study is implemented on FPGA environment. Real time performance analysis is performed for various noise levels and angle of arrival values.
