Description

The aim of this investigation was to develop lustre glazed Iznik tiles and characterization of nanoclusters which is responsible for the metallic shine in the lustre layer. Traditional Iznik tiles having high quartz content body and lead-alkali glaze were produced using laboratory controlled conditions. Lustre paste was applied on the surfaces of these tiles by brush. These lustre paste applied Iznik tiles were then fired under oxidizing and reducing atmosphere. The characterization of lustre layers were carried out using numerous different analytical techniques such as SEM, WDXRF, XRD, XPS, UV vis N1R, AFM and TEM EDS.
