Thermodynamic analysis of a beta type Stirling engine

Description
In this study, it was aimed to develop a crank-connecting rod drive mechanism of a beta type Stirling engine which was described and studied from kinematic and thermodynamics points of view. The inner heat transfer surface requirement and the thermodynamic performance characteristic are predicted preparing a nodal analysis in FORTRAN. Variation of the temperature in volume sections is calculated using the first law of thermodynamics, given for unsteady open systems, after arranging the enthalpy inflow and outflow terms. Volumes of cells are calculated using kinematic relations devised for the crank-driving mechanism. By using three different practically possible values of convective heat transfer coefficient, which were 100, 200 and 300 W/m(2)K, respectively, variation of power generation with different charge pressure was examined.
