WEAR BEHAVIOUR OF ALUMINUM MATRIX SIC PARTICLE REINFORCED COMPOSITE CAM PROFILE UNDER DRY SLIDING CONDITION
Creators
Description
In this study, ceramic particle reinforced metal matrix composites camshaft profiles were manufactured to determine their wear behaviour. AA2124 aluminum matrix powders (25 mu m) were reinforced by SiC (20 mu m) with 10 to 30% volume fraction. For comparison, unreinforced cam profiles were manufactured. Mixed powders were compressed at 300 MPa and 615 degrees C for 30 min in an argon atmosphere. Wear tests were made at 75 N dead loading with 500 rpm revolution for 30 min under dry condition using special designed wear tester for cam profile.
