Description
In this study, the analysis of contact stresses occurred during the wear of the duplex surface-treated (chromising and then plasma nitriding) AISI 52100 and 8620 steels was carried out. The MSC-Marc finite element code was used for analysis of contact stress occurred during the tribotest. The problem was considered as two-dimensional and elastic. The effect of friction coefficient which was obtained from the experimental studies, on the surface and subsurface stresses was investigated. The results showed that the friction coefficient between the layer and the ball significantly affected the tensile stresses that occurred on the surface and the subsurface.
