Description
In this study, a novel single layer three-dimensional (3D) band-pass frequency selective surface (FSS) containing continuous and discontinuous conductive rods is presented. The frequency dependent reflection and transmission characteristics of the proposed FSS are obtained from time-domain full-wave numerical simulations. Then, a simple equivalent circuit model of the proposed structure is developed with combination of capacitance and inductance. Furthermore, parameter analysis is performed to discuss the impacts of the physical and electrical design parameters such as the thickness of the panel, the lengths of the conductive discontinuous rods, the diameters of the rods, the vertical and horizontal spaces between the rods and the dielectric constant on the resonance frequency of the FSS. Finally, theoretical background of the parameter effects is explained based on the equivalent circuit model.
