Description
Fastening elements usually lead to high stress concentrations; fatigue failure thus becomes the most critical failure mode for a fastening element itself or the region around it under fluctuating stresses. A designer should seek the ways of increasing fatigue strength of a joint to ensure the safety of the whole structure.
