Açıklama
MIL-STD-1553 serves as one of the primary communication protocols for military and civil aviation systems, valued for its reliability, redundancy, and high fault tolerance. However, it was designed without built-in security features such as encryption or authentication, leaving it vulnerable to modern cyber threats. This research introduces a dedicated attack device that simulates real-world attack scenarios directly on an operational avionic platform, moving beyond prior studies that relied solely on simulated data. By conducting actual attacks, this study provides a more realistic assessment of the vulnerabilities and risks associated with MIL-STD-1553 systems. It analyzes the impact of these attacks on bus operations and overall platform security, and further evaluates the effectiveness of existing intrusion detection systems (IDS) proposed in previous research against these practical threats.
