COMPARISON OF AGROECOLOGICAL AND CONVENTIONAL GREENHOUSE TOMATO CULTIVATION IN TERMS OF INVESTMENT ANALYSIS: THE CASE OF ANTALYA PROVINCE, TURKİYE

The aim of this study is to compare agroecological and conventional greenhouse tomato cultivation in terms of investment analysis indicators. The study was conducted in Antalya Province, which ranks first in tomato production in Turkiye. The main material of the study consists of original data collected through a survey from farms engaged in agroecological and conventional greenhouse tomato cultivation. The surveys were conducted through face-to-face interviews with producers. According to the research results, it was determined that the average farm size, tomato yield, and tomato sales price of agroecological production farms were higher than those of conventional production farms. While conventional production farms were more advantageous in terms of initial establishment costs and operating expenses, agroecological production farms were found to be more advantageous in terms of investment evaluation criteria (net present value of the investment, internal rate of return, benefit-cost ratio, break-even point, and payback period) due to higher yields and sales prices.
