IoT-Based Multi-Speed HVAC Control: Simulation Results and Testbed Development
- 1. Middle East Tech Univ, Dept Elect & Elect Engn, Ankara, Turkiye
Description
This paper presents a multi-speed rule-based controller for HVAC and ventilation management, evaluated in simulation and prepared for real-world deployment. The controller uses real-time environmental data and predefined thresholds to dynamically adjust fan speeds, balancing air quality and thermal comfort. Compared to conventional rule-based methods, it achieves more stable indoor conditions and improved occupant comfort, while maintaining comparable energy performance. The algorithm is validated in an EnergyPlus simulation of a 100 m(2) space. Results show that the approach offers a reliable, lowoverhead solution for efficient climate control, and is well-suited for integration into future smart building applications.
