Description
The advent of 6G networks promises to transform communication systems by deeply integrating artificial intelligence (AI) as a native component, enabling unprecedented levels of efficiency, customization, and intelligence within networks. This paper presents a literature review of AI-native use cases in 6G networks, addressing the key research question: How can AI be leveraged as a foundational element in 6G to enable advanced functionalities and services? Key use cases identified encompass AI-driven network optimization and self-management, AI-powered service customization and personalization, AI for ultrareliable low-latency communication (URLLC), AI-native security and privacy, and AI for integrated sensing and communication (ISAC). Beyond that, this review sheds light on AI applications in mobility management, beamforming, digital twins, edge-device collaboration, energy efficiency, and multimodal services, positioning 6G as a knowledge network. By synthesizing current research, this paper identifies gaps and challenges in the existing literature and provides a forward-looking perspective on future directions. The findings highlight the transformative potential of AI in 6G, ushering in an era for intelligent, adaptive, and sustainable next-generation networks.
