Description
Wake-up radio (WuR) is a key energy-efficient solution for low-power devices, allowing receivers to remain in sleep mode until a specific wake-up signal (WuS) is detected. However, designing an efficient WuS that meets WuR's stringent power requirements while maintaining compatibility with existing cellular systems remains a challenge. This letter presents a novel approach for generating on-off keying (OOK) sequences based on multi-symbol encapsulated orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MSE-OFDM) at the transmitter side. The proposed method enables efficient WuS generation with minimal overhead, while ensuring seamless integration into existing communication frameworks. A non-coherent detector is employed at the receiver to extract the WuS information without requiring channel state information. Analytical and simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme produces an ideal-like OOK waveform achieving better detection performance compared to conventional methods.
