Design of a Rectangular Slotted Microstrip Patch Antenna for C Band Radar Applications
- 1. Istanbul Yeni Yuzyil Univ, Elect & Elect Engn Dept, Istanbul, Turkiye
Description
In this study, a microstrip patch antenna with a unique patch geometry operating at a frequency of 6.035 GHz is designed for use in radar systems operating in the C frequency band (4-8 GHz). The antenna stands out with its small size, ease of fabrication, low cost, and lightweight design. These characteristics enhance its accessibility and effectiveness in radar systems while also expediting the manufacturing process and reducing costs. In order to increase the bandwidth, two different antenna designs are developed by introducing slots in the patch plane. Based on the simulation results obtained by using HFSS, the antenna exhibiting superior performance is selected by evaluating antenna performance parameters such as return loss, radiation pattern, and gain.
