Preconcentration and Determination of Mn(II) in Water and Tea by Switchable Hydrophilicity Solvent-Based Liquid Phase Microextraction (SHS-LPME) and Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (FAAS)

Description

Here is presented switchable hydrophilicity solvent-based liquid phase microextraction (SHS-LPME) followed by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry (FAAS) for the determination of Mn(II). Triethylamine (TEA) switchable solvent was used as an extraction medium to achieve the desired analyte preconcentration by switching from protonated to deprotonated form as pH changed. Several influencing parameters were optimized, including sample pH, chelating agent volume, switchable solvent volume, and base volume. The developed method has LOD and LOQ as 0.413 mu g L-1 and 1.37 mu g L-1, respectively, under the optimal conditions. The suggested method was verified with certified reference materials and employed to determine Mn(II) in water and tea samples.
