A Comprehensive Study on the Component Properties of Hybrid Weft Yarns and their Effects on Denim Fabric Performance

  • 1. Ege Univ, Fac Engn, Dept Text Engn, Bornova, Izmir, Turkiye

Description

This study examines the impact of hybrid weft yarns on denim fabric performance, focusing on the interplay between the mechanical properties of these yarns and their effects on fabric attributes such as elasticity, recovery, and resistance to bagging. To achieve this, soft-core and double-core spun yarns were produced using various elastane types and thicknesses, as well as polyester and elastomultiester fibers as core material. Emphasizing recent advancements in yarn production technologies and optimized material selection, the research highlights the potential of these hybrid yarns to enhance the functional qualities of denim fabrics. The findings reveal that yarn type and core composition, rather than elastane type alone, have statistically significant effects on yarn and fabric performance. Furthermore double-core yarns, especially those with thicker elastane, provide a balance of high elasticity and low bagging, making them ideal for high-quality denim production.
