Description

Advanced metal oxide powders are gaining increasing attention in the cosmetics industry due to their unique physicochemical properties, such as high stability, biocompatibility, and optical benefits, and their mineralbased natural origins. Cosmetic market trends indicate a growing demand for advanced ingredients that offer enhanced performance, safety, multifunctionality, and sustainability, driving the incorporation of metal oxide particles into various cosmetic formulations in line with green chemistry principles. These materials, including zinc oxide, iron oxide, silicon dioxide, titanium dioxide, and cerium oxide, are utilized across different categories, including skincare, hair care, makeup, and dental care. While metal oxide particles offer numerous benefits in cosmetic formulations, their widespread adoption requires addressing formulation complexities, regulatory considerations, and cost implications. Achieving optimal dispersion, maintaining stability in emulsions, and ensuring compatibility with other cosmetic ingredients are key areas of ongoing research. However, advancements in material science and surface modifications continue to expand their potential, offering new opportunities.
