Description
Connectivity is a game changer for smart mobility, enabling the automated exchange of information among stakeholders. This facilitates interoperability, breaking down silos and fostering a comprehensive understanding of the urban environment and its participants. As a result, connectivity serves as a foundation for the deployment of innovative mobility services that enhance efficiency, safety, and sustainability. This paper presents three pilot projects focused on door-to-door multimodal transportation in densely populated urban areas, developed within the framework of the EU-funded EcoMobility project. Specifically, it examines how key digital enablers-navigation, high-definition (HD) mapping, and vulnerable road user (VRU) detection, leverage connectivity to transform urban mobility. These technologies establish a robust foundation for enhancing transportation efficiency, improving road safety, and supporting the transition to a connected, service-oriented mobility ecosystem.
