Two Dimensional Position Estimation using SFCW MIMO Radar

Açıklama

Radar systems are frequently used in applications such as elderly monitoring, detection of vital signs under debris, and through wall imaging. Radar systems with a single transmitter and single receiver (SISO) configuration can identify alive targets and offer their location information, but they are unable to reveal the target's angular position. However, with architectures such as multiple input multiple output (MIMO), in addition to range information, angular positions of the targets can also be determined. In this study, measurements were carried out in an anechoic chamber with stepped frequency continuous wave (SFCW) radar having time division multiplexing (TDM) MIMO architecture. In the measurements, the individual was stationary and only breathing at different angular positions relative to the radar. The data obtained from different measurements examined using beamforming and range estimation algorithms. It has been shown that range and angular position information of the standing individual can be obtained using the SFCW radar with MIMO architecture.
