Multifunctional design offering electromagnetic asymmetrical transmission with linear polarization conversion

Description

Asymmetrical transmission has been observed offering simultaneously linear polarization conversion in a design that consists of a frequency selective surface filter and a double-sided chiral rotator. Both chiral and filter configurations have been adapted to work at around 10.9 GHz. The transmission ratio between forward and backward transmissions peaks higher than 1600 as approximately 75% of the initial beam is transmitted unidirectionally along the forward direction. A band of operation spanning 1 GHz, where the asymmetrical transmission ratio is kept higher than 50, is obtained.
