Anonymous Research Dataset of Machiavellian Personality Traits: A Multidimensional Assessment of Manipulative Strategy, Pragmatic Morality, Cynical Worldview, Social Influence Orientation, and Interpersonal Detachment in a Non-Clinical Online Sample

This dataset contains anonymous responses collected through an online psychological assessment designed to measure characteristics commonly associated with Machiavellian personality tendencies. The assessment was administered through the Trait Profiler platform and completed voluntarily by participants from the general population.

The instrument evaluates multiple dimensions related to strategic interpersonal behavior, pragmatic decision-making, cynical beliefs about human nature, social influence preferences, and emotional detachment in relationships. These dimensions were developed to capture various aspects of Machiavellian thinking and behavior within non-clinical populations.

The dataset consists of 46 completed responses. Participants were primarily from India (45 participants), with one participant from Jordan. All responses were collected anonymously through an online self-report format. No personally identifying information were collected, stored, or included in the shared dataset. The assessment measures five dimensions:

• Manipulative Strategy – tendency to use strategic influence and manipulation to achieve goals.
• Pragmatic Morality – preference for practical outcomes over strict moral principles.
• Cynical Worldview – belief that people are primarily motivated by self-interest and personal gain.
• Social Influence Orientation – interest in influencing, directing, or shaping the behavior of others.
• Interpersonal Detachment – emotional distance and reduced emotional involvement in relationships.

The dataset includes participant identifiers, total assessment scores, dimension-level scores, country information, completion dates, and validity indicators. Data were exported from the assessment platform in CSV format for research and educational purposes.
