Description

Dataset Title:
The Effects of Attentional Focus on Curling Shot Performance: Dataset

Description:
This dataset contains the raw and processed data used in the study examining the effects of attentional focus (internal vs. external), task difficulty (easy vs. difficult), and expertise level (novice vs. elite) on curling shot performance.

The dataset includes performance scores obtained from 30 curling athletes (15 novice, 15 elite) across different experimental conditions. Each participant performed curling shots under both attentional focus conditions and task difficulty levels. Performance scores were calculated based on predefined scoring zones, with the highest and lowest trial scores removed and the mean of the remaining trials used for analysis.

The dataset also includes variables representing:

  • Participant characteristics (e.g., expertise level)

  • Experimental conditions (attentional focus and task difficulty)

  • Performance scores for each condition

Statistical analyses were conducted using GraphPad Prism (Version 10) and IBM SPSS Statistics (Version 29), including mixed-design ANOVA.

File Format:
GraphPad Prism (.prism)

Reusability:
The dataset can be used for replication studies, secondary data analysis, and methodological comparisons in motor performance, sport psychology, and attentional focus research.

Ethics Statement:
All data were collected in accordance with ethical approval and informed consent procedures. No personally identifiable information is included in the dataset.

Keywords:
Attentional focus; external focus; motor performance; curling; expertise level; task difficulty; sport psychology
