Green extraction processes from renewable biomass to sustainable bioproducts

  • 1. Ege Univ, Fac Engn, Dept Bioengn, Izmir, Turkiye

Description

Algae have emerged as a promising renewable resource for bioactive compounds extraction, driven by the increasing demand for sustainable bioproducts. Green extraction techniques have gained interest as an ecologically friendly alternative, providing unique opportunities for the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and feed industries. This critical review focuses on sustainable algal extraction equipment to clarify the underlying principles and emphasize the challenges in these areas, interconnect them, and build a panorama of potential industrial applications. The novelty of this review lies in the intersection of sustainability, renewability, and cutting-edge extraction techniques, offering a forward-looking panorama of industrial applications. The review highlights the importance of shorter extraction times for cost savings and increased output in industrial settings. As an amazing innovation, future research should focus on applying those technologies with usage of artificial intelligence and/or machine learning algorithms and prove operating in a perfect harmony.
