Description
This study explores an Asset-Based Creativity (ABC) approach in cultural context to improve creativity driven prosperity across the country. Rather than a conventional approach which makes diagnosis by first identifying and addressing the needs, problems, and weaknesses; the asset-based creativity approach synergizes power and effectiveness by understanding the capacities, strengths, and assets of regions. ABC offers a roadmap which involves three segments: cultural assets, creative knowledge and creative motivation. These three are identified, evaluated and comprehensively assessed to build creative economy niches, combinations, driving forces, and guidelines. Combined the ABC segments enable the unique improvement of regions' creative assets. By studying the Turkish handicrafts, this article shows the key creativity driven development of countries is found in their cultural creative assets.
