Description
main objective of the study is to assess the capabilities of the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) for large eddy simulation (LES) of turbulent flows in complex geometries. To this end, an in-house parallel flow solver has been developed to simulate turbulent flows via LBM.The capabilities of the solver are assessed for laminar and turbulent flows by simulating lid-driven cubic cavity flows at different Reynolds numbers. The results obtained with the solver showed physical behaviour that is compatible with the literature. Reinforcing lbmles with the immersed boundary method, bounce back method, and stretched mesh structure applications makes it suitable for complex geometries. Finally, implemented immersed boundary method along with the bounce back schemes are tested for dump combustor geometry and the results are evaluated accordingly.
