An Approach for RCS Estimation Based on SBR Implemented on GPU
Description
Shooting and Bouncing Rays (SBR) method stands out in terms of its ability to be used in practical applications in radar cross section (RCS) estimation. This calculation of the scatterers represented by triangle meshes by tracking the rays sent from a certain plane costs quite high for both memory usage and runtime duration. Tracking the rays and searching for the ray-triangle intersections in parallel provides significant improvements in runtime. In this paper, ray tracing is performed parallelly by utilizing NVIDIA OptiX SDK. Then, a novel method for RCS estimation is applied for material coated targets.
