Detection and Analysis of Laser Spots with Known and Periodic Temporal Behavior on Video
Description
This work introduces a novel method for detecting and analyzing periodic signals, specifically laser spots, in video footage using Fourier analysis. When the behavior of the periodic target signal is well-defined, in contrast to its simplicity, the method can handle modest amounts of motion, reject signals with dissimilar characteristics, and differentiate between signals with similar characteristics. It accurately determines the period and spatial location of the observed signals. This study addresses a notable gap in existing literature, as there appears to be no comprehensive research focused on solving this specific problem.
