Description
Renewable energy resources such as wind and solar energy recently become more substantial due to the environmental impacts of fossil fuels. For this reason, the Paris Climate Agreement was signed in 2016. In this study, a microgrid system consisting of the hybrid renewable energy combinations, meeting the annual need of residential use in Kayseri, is studied with the HOMER Pro software. Resources including solar, wind and diesel generators are considered, and storage methods such as batteries, fuel cells, and hydrogen storage are evaluated in terms of electricity production, cost, and emissions. The findings show that the optimum solution for renewable energy systems in Kayseri is a hybrid system including solar, wind, diesel generator, battery, and hydrogen storage. This hybrid system is the most economical, and the cost of energy is 0.376 $/kWh. Further-more, the 68% renewable ratio has the least CO2 emission for meeting the residential load requirements.
