Description

We report the first observation of ${a}_{0}^{0}\left(980\right)\text{−}{f}_{0}\left(980\right)$ mixing in the decays of $J/\psi \to \varphi {f}_{0}\left(980\right)\to \varphi {a}_{0}^{0}\left(980\right)\to \varphi \eta {\pi }^{0}$ and ${\chi }_{c1}\to {a}_{0}^{0}\left(980\right){\pi }^{0}\to {f}_{0}\left(980\right){\pi }^{0}\to {\pi }^{+}{\pi }^{-}{\pi }^{0}$, using data samples of $1.31×{10}^{9}\text{}\text{}J/\psi $ events and $4.48×{10}^{8}\text{}\text{}\psi \left(3686\right)$ events accumulated with the BESIII detector. The signals of ${f}_{0}\left(980\right)\to {a}_{0}^{0}\left(980\right)$ and ${a}_{0}^{0}\left(980\right)\to {f}_{0}\left(980\right)$ mixing are observed at levels of statistical significance of $7.4\sigma $ and $5.5\sigma $, respectively. The corresponding branching fractions and mixing intensities are measured and the constraint regions on the coupling constants, ${g}_{{a}_{0}{K}^{+}{K}^{-}}$ and ${g}_{{f}_{0}{K}^{+}{K}^{-}}$, are estimated. The results improve the understanding of the nature of ${a}_{0}^{0}\left(980\right)$ and ${f}_{0}\left(980\right)$.
