TREABILITY STUDY OF WASTE-WATER FROM TEXTILE-INDUSTRY
Creators
Description
Chemical coagulation and aerobic treatment of waste water from textile dyeing plant (BOD=600 - 950 mgL(-1), COD=1400-1750 mgL(-1)) were studied experimentally in laboratory reactors. Chemical coagulation studies were carried out using Alum, Ferric chloride, lime and Calcium Carbonate using Jar-tests. Best removal efficiency, 42% removal in COD, was obtained by using alum and lime combination in acidic condition (pH=6). Wastewater was easily treated in activated sludge system. Removal efficiency was found 60 - 90 % for COD in the range of loading ratio (F/M) 0.05 - 0.55. Experiments indicated that 94% removal in COD was achieved in alum coagulation following activated sludge system.
