Electrocatalytic properties of platinum particles incorporated with polypyrrole films in D-glucose oxidation in phosphate media

Description

Metal particles dispersed in conducting polymer films are of importance as possible electrocatalysts for various electrode reactions. The present study was performed in order to ascertain the electrocatalytic properties of platinum incorporated polypyrrole films for D-glucose oxidation. The behaviour of polypyrrole films modified with platinum particles was characterised in phosphate buffer (0.1 M Na2HPO4 + 0.1 M KH2PO4) according to differences in the quantities of the metal depending upon deposition potential. After the optimisation of the modified system, the electro-oxidation of D-glucose was investigated and the electrochemical and electrocatalytic properties of polypyrrole-metal particles were interpreted in neutral media, because of its importance in biosensor applications.
