SOFT COMPUTING METHODOLOGIES AND THEIR FUSION IN MECHATRONIC PRODUCTS

The concept of soft computing is introduced and its three basic constituents, namely fuzzy logic, neural networks and probabilistic reasoning, are reviewed. The article then discusses how they can be fused to a better advantage. Some application examples are described with particular emphasis on mechatronic products.
