Calibration of Dissipation Factor Measurements of Capacitance Meters

A calibration procedure of absolute dissipation factor calibration for commercial capacitance meters has been developed at TUBITAK UME between dissipation factor values 10(-6) and 10(-1) for the frequencies between 60 Hz and 20 kHz. A guard ring capacitor was employed to determine dissipation factor measurement error of capacitance meter at very low values. Resistors of different values are connected series to capacitor in order to obtain desired dissipation factor measurements, for dissipation factor values higher than 10(-4). In this work, AH2500A and AH2700A ultra precision capacitance bridges were employed as capacitance meters.
