Description
New zinc(II) phthalocyanines cotaining octa triazole linked tetraethylene glycol derived from peripheral or non-peripheral bis-{3-[4-(2-12-[2-(2-hydroxy-ethoxy)-ethoxy]-ethoxy)-ethoxymethyl]-[1,2,3] triazol-1-yl]-propylsulfanyl}-phthalonitriles (9, 12) have been synthesized by multi-step reaction sequence and characterized. Phthalonitriles have been prepared by the reaction of 3,6-bis(3-azido-propylsulfanyl) phthalonitrile (7) or 4,5-bis(3-azido-propylsulfanyl)phthalonitrile (II). The new water-soluble zinc (II) phthalocyanines were synthesized by the tetramerization reaction of substituted dicarbodinitrile compounds. Singlet oxygen quantum yields of the complexes have been determined. These new compounds have been characterized by a combination of elemental analysis, FT-IR,H- 1 and C-13 NMR, MS spectrometer and UV-vis spectrophotometer techniques.
