  "abstract": "<p>The difference in total widths between the Bc+ and B+ mesons is measured using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0\u00a0fb\u22121 collected by the LHCb experiment in 7 and 8 TeV centre-of-mass energy proton\u2013proton collisions at the LHC. Through the study of the time evolution of Bc+\u2192J/\u03c8\u03c0+ and B+\u2192J/\u03c8K+ decays, the width difference is measured to be \u0394\u0393\u2261\u0393Bc+\u2212\u0393B+=4.46\u00b10.14\u00b10.07\u00a0mm\u22121c, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The known lifetime of the B+ meson is used to convert this to a precise measurement of the Bc+ lifetime, \u03c4Bc+=513.4\u00b111.0\u00b15.7\u00a0fs, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.</p>",
