"abstract": "<p>We have performed the first measurement of the coherent \u03c8(2S) photo-production cross section in ultra-peripheral Pb Pb collisions at the LHC. This charmonium excited state is reconstructed via the \u03c8(2S)\u2192l+l\u2212 and \u03c8(2S)\u2192J/\u03c8\u03c0+\u03c0\u2212 decays, where the J/\u03c8 decays into two leptons. The analysis is based on an event sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 22\u00a0\u03bcb\u22121 . The cross section for coherent \u03c8(2S) production in the rapidity interval \u22120.9<y<0.9 is d\u03c3\u03c8(2S)coh/dy=0.83\u00b10.19(stat+syst)\u00a0mb . The \u03c8(2S) to J/\u03c8 coherent cross section ratio is 0.34\u22120.07+0.08(stat+syst) . The obtained results are compared to predictions from theoretical models.</p>",
